Domaine du Cause La Lande Cavagnac Malbec 2013-New Vintage

Descriptions:

93 points Wine Enthusiast

Domaine de Cause 2013 La Lande Cavagnac Malbec (Cahors)

“This wood-aged, perfumed wine is serious, complex and will take its time to develop. It is full of dark tannins and ripe black fruits, laced with acidity. It comes from old vines, planted in the 1970s, which give great concentration and depth to the wine.”

Dominique Piron Chenas Quartz 2014

Descriptions:

Appellation: Chénas is the smallest and rarest of the Beaujolais Crus. This comes from a vineyard that Piron runs with the three Michelin-starred Lameloise restaurant in Chagny.

The soil is granite based clay with bands of quartz crystals running through it. This is where the wine gets its name, as the quartz imparts a mineral quality to the wine which makes it very expressive without being heavy.

The nine- hectare parcel comprises vines of more than 60 years of age on a steep, east-facing slope between 310 and 380 metres up. They are all pruned in the traditional goblet (head-pruned) style of Beaujolais. The harvest is done entirely by hand. Only manual harvesting is allowed in the Beaujolais region.

A full-on nose of spice, earth and prettiness is mirrored on a palate that seems to bring together notes of lilac and peony before unveiling mature tannins. Supple, generous and vibrant, with graphite and deeply scented red fruits. A real stunner. Pairs well with rich, complex sauces and grilled meats.

Line 39 Petite Sirah 2014

Descriptions:

The 39th parallel runs through the heart of California wine country and is home to Line 39 wines. Here we craft dynamic wines expressive of their region of origin and premium vineyard lineage. Line 39 wines are versatile and sophisticated, providing a wonderful complement to a variety of foods.

Highly Recommended / 94 Points – Ultimate Beverage Challenge
“Peppery smoked meat, eucalyptus and cedar wood counterbalance rich, succulent blueberry and fresh vegetation on this tangy, spicy red. Ripe acidity and chewy tannins frame rustic but detailed fruit, transitioning into black raisin and concord grape skin.”

TASTING NOTES

The 2014 Petite Sirah offers aromas of red and black fruits and warm baking spices with a hint of oak. A full bodied wine that is both complex and elegant, this Petite Sirah calls out for a big, juicy steak.
